Hello friends of iKhaya
As we gear up for the Christmas break, the kids are already enjoying their summer school holidays! It’s a busy time behind the scenes as we coordinate staff leave, manage transitions with children coming and going, and ensure the homes continue running smoothly. Despite the hustle, we look forward to celebrating Christmas and New Year with braais and three birthday boys with parties. Plus, we have some fun outings and surprises in the works for the kids!
November was another action-packed month as we wrapped up the self-defense training and enjoyed a memorable trip, with Eniwe Sports Club, to Kingsmead to watch the Proteas in action. Our school children brought home lovely academic reports, with some even receiving awards for their hard work. We are incredibly proud to be part of their journey, supporting them as they face life’s challenges head-on and celebrating their achievements and successes!
We’re excited to share that our recent call for assistance with year-end expenses received several generous responses—thank you so much! We are still hopeful for support in covering a few remaining needs, including our staff’s year-end 13th cheque, and the school children’s stationery needed in January 2025. If you’re able to contribute to the remaining expenses, we would be deeply grateful for your support. Although we do receive government funding, we rely significantly on the support of our community to continue our work in caring for vulnerable children. Each month, we stand in faith, and trust in the generosity of our supporters to help cover the shortfall, being approximately 50% of our operating costs.
As we close out the year, we take this opportunity to wish you all a blessed Christmas and joyful New Year. May 2025 bring you happiness, health, and success, and may it be filled with love, growth, and new opportunities. Thank you for your ongoing support and for being such an important part of our family.
